Gleaners Community Food Bank
As the third-oldest food bank in the United States, Gleaners Community Food Bank's mission has been to turn surplus food, which otherwise would go to waste, into millions of delicious meals for hungry people in southeastern Michigan. For more than a quarter of a century we've been "nourishing communities by feeding hungry people". Since 1977, Gleaners Community Food Bank has grown from distributing just one or two million pounds of food a year to nearly 25 million pounds annually, equivalent to 65,000 meals per day.
Make A Difference! There are many ways to make a difference in the fight against hunger. Volunteer opportunities range from packing food in one of our 5 distribution centers across southeastern Michigan to lending a hand at one of our special events. You can also give to Gleaners through monetary donations, planned giving through a will or trust, and even with in-kind donations such as office supplies or items for one of our auctions or raffles. |

Bethany Christian Services of Southeast MI
Bethany of Southeast Michigan provides birthparent assistance, domestic infant adoption, international adoption, older/special needs adoption, and volunteer opportunities.
Bethany has offices all over the country that need the help of volunteers. Opportunities may vary depending on the needs of your local Bethany office. Your local office may need help with a special event, such as a fundraiser, picnic, or golf outing. They may also need your help with clerical duties, such as answering telephones, doing data entry, or preparing special mailings. In some locations where we offer foster care, we need mentors to offer a one-on-one relationship with a child in foster care. You will be a role model and mentor, and help a child discover his or her unique qualities. |
